Groundhog Day Movie Review - Ralph
Ralph Perez
In "Groundhog Day," weather man Phil Connors is sent to cover the annual groundhog day with partners Rita and Chris in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania when he finds himself trapped in an unpredicted blizzard. Little does Phil know that he'd be doomed to relive this horrible day over and over until he gets it right. Two main characters in the movie are Phil (the weatherman) and Rita, (Phil's associate) played by Bill Murray and Anderson MacDowell. A side character in groundhog day is Chris. (Phil's camera man) Groundhog day was written by Harold Ramis and Danny Rubin. The director of groundhog day is Harold Ramis. Harold Ramis is a screenwriter, director, and actor best known for his contributions to the creation of "Ghost Busters" back in 1980. A year after the release of groundhog day (1993,) Harold Ramis went on to act in "Airheads" and Direct "Stuart Saves his Family" in 1995. Three parts of the movie groundhog day that stood out to me are, the beginning of the movie, about 30-50 minutes into the movie, and about and hour and 20 minutes in to the movie. In the beginning of the moving Phil seems to be a rude guy, he treats everybody else as if he's better than them and during his trip to Punxsutawney, Phil ends up having a bad day. It quickly becomes apparent to me and my peers that Phil is stuck in this day for the rest of his life as he's trapped in a time warp. 30-50 minutes into the movie Phil realizes that he is stuck in this day for the rest of his life and he cannot die. This causes him to do crazy things that he would never do if he lived a regular life. As he experiments with his abnormal life Phil starts to fall in love with his co-worker Rita. About an hour and forty minutes it becomes clear that Rita falls in love with Phil and that's when Phil gets out of the time warp.
